Analytical Reasoning

Analytical Reasoning and similarities and differences is an easy topic. You have to know how to analyze the surroundings, things, and other things of the same patterns.

Introduction

Analytical Reasoning means analyzing things, watching them, and then making decisions based on the facts and logic.

So, analytical reasoning is basically a thing that is the capacity of yours to analyze things and then reach certain decisions. Many questions in competitive exams come from this topic also because it is a very important topic. It helps your mind in making it sharp. You have to know how to observe things closely and then make decisions spontaneously. You are given a particular amount of time to solve this question. In that time, you have to understand the patterns and write or solve accordingly.

Analytical Reasoning v/s critical reasoning

Analytical Reasoning means analyzing things, watching them, and making decisions based on facts and logic.

Critical Reasoning is reasoning in which the people’s thinking ability is checked and how they seek information to analyze the other possible alternatives and then make decisions.

Analytical Reasoning topics:

Almost all people think that Analytical Reasoning/Thinking and critical thinking are the same things.. Let’s learn from an example:

Critical thinking is like when a boss is being shown several examples for the company, and he can take only one. So they will compare all the other ideas and then come to a conclusion and then take the decision. They will take that idea which would give them higher profits, and this can be called critical thinking

But when the same boss does not take any of their employee’s ideas and the boss compares all the possible ideas on their own and then comes to a decision by analyzing all the possible ideas in their mind and this type of decision includes Analytical Reasoning (one thinks of their own while making a decision).

Critical Thinking

  • Identify the claim:

This is the thing that when someone makes a claim about something in which they believe. No matter if it’s right or wrong, they make one claim, and you have to see through it. And they were then going through all the ways in mind to make one decision. In some cases, people also have a habit of supporting or justifying they are going for that idea and giving some examples to support that idea. All of this comes under identifying the claim.

  • From a framework of evaluation:

This process started when you had already made the decision. This step is about how you are going to justify it. What are the things you will say that people listening to you turn in your favor no matter whether you are wrong or right? What the thing is, they should feel you’re right and come in support of you.

  • Evaluate the evidence:

This is your closing moment; at this moment, you have to look at the piece of the information provided to you. It would help if you reconsidered all the facts given to you, no matter how small they are. Your closing statement should be very powerful in making every other present there in your favor.

So all these steps include Critical Thinking. You arrived at a solution that looks very easy, but it includes all these processes. This shows that Analytical Reasoning and thinking have a whole totally different story.

Analytical Reasoning:

In this, people gather information on their own, see the patterns in them, the trend and the information following they make decisions based on their logics.  This is the reason why the people who make their decisions through Analytical Reasoning are generally very successful in their fields. They are successful because they think about logic also. Many great Corporate leaders think like this. Even scientists think like this before they are about to do any big project.

  • Attention: Generally, analytical reasoning people give more attention to the details, while critical thinkers give more attention to the external source of information. They make decisions based on the other’s ideas.
  • Verbal ability: Analytical thinkers always have a backup for the decision they took and stand on it.

For Example, When some article came in the newspaper regarding how the author came up with the idea of writing this story from Analytical Reasoning.

  • Logical Reasoning: Analytical thinkers will only take decisions when they come to know they are taking that particular decision when they get the logic of taking that decision; only after that will they take the decision. They will try to make patterns until they get the idea of why only this idea and not the others.

Conclusion

So after reading all this, we conclude that not only the person can make decisions based on Analytical Reasoning but also with Critical Thinking. Though we suggest that if you are going to make a decision, do it with the Analytical Thinking way, not with the critical way of thinking as in this case you are dependent on someone else, and if their idea fails, you may blame them. But if you have taken the decision through the way of Analytical Reasoning, there are high chances that your decision may not be wrong, and if it may, you can take the blame on yourself and next time you can do better. Also, give special attention to Analytical Reasoning topics as they have a very minor difference between their types.
