Dr. PS Pasricha, retired Director-General of Police of Maharashtra State, was a 1970 batch IPS officer. He became the Additional Superintendent of Police in Thane in 1974 and was instrumental in capturing many criminals and smugglers who had a free reign before he took over. He went on to work in a similar role in numerous districts in Maharashtra, fighting crime all along.

Pasricha also showed his expertise in traffic management when he was posted as Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai Traffic Police in the 1980s. He changed the face of Mumbai traffic, introducing several measures and schemes that helped ease the city’s traffic woes. In fact, Pasricha has authored a book on traffic management and road safety. 

In what was an illustrious career, Pasricha served in various capacities in the Crime Branch, Anti Corruption Bureau, and Maharashtra Police’s Computer Wing before heading the Mumbai Police in 2003. He would go on to be the Director-General of Police of Maharashtra in 2004. He retired as Maharashtra’s top cop in 2008.

Such was his expertise in his job that the World Peace Movement in India awarded Pasricha the Shanti Doot international award. 

After spending 38 years in the police department, working tirelessly against crime, Pasricha retired in 2004. He has a small family that includes a wife, a son, and a daughter.

Pasricha was also an avid reader and a poet.
