Importance Of Cloud Computing

Cloud computing platforms are gaining their worth over the years. Today we will talk about several advantages of computing platforms.

Cloud computing helps in transforming IT infrastructure into a useful network. The system helps users to plug into infrastructure via web services. Cloud services can be used by users without installation or connecting to any on-premises device. It can also be referred to as on-demand services, including servers, networking devices, data storage, etc. This article aims to highlight various advantages of computing and the different types of cloud computing platforms available.

Cloud computing: Definition

The definition of cloud computing states that the relationship between services is sold through the internet. Everything that includes the internet is included in the computing platform. These things can be any app, server, or software, among other assets that can be used online.

Advantages of computing

Cloud computing eradicates the need for traditional methods. Here are some of the advantages of computing methods:

  • Cost

Cloud eradicates the need and decreases the expenses of an organisation. Buying different hardware parts and checking software, and running up to different systems to check data boxes—the server is a lot of hassle. Cloud will help in reducing the extra money any company spends on buying additional resources.

  • Backup and restoration of data

You can easily store data on the cloud and retrieve the same data file. Backup becomes so easy and simple. If there are power fluctuations or any data loss due to unforeseen circumstances, cloud users can restore it.

  • Collaboration

The promising thing about cloud computing is that affiliation with other parties becomes simple and secure. You can share your data in the form of a file or folder with any people you want. You can edit, modify, or delete data as per the requirement.

  • Accessibility

Accessibility means that anyone can take data from cloud storage whether or not they are in that location. They can use mobile phones, laptops or desktops to open or edit their documents. This helps in increasing productivity and efficiency and does away with travel.

  • Unlimited storage and safe

You can lock your cloud system using passwords and give access accordingly. Also, this type of computing allows you to store an endless amount of data with minimum or no purchasing required. With cloud systems, all your information is safe and securely stored.

Various categories of cloud computing

There are four fundamental categories of cloud computing services: private, public, hybrid, and multi-cloud. Further, they are divided into three main types of cloud computing systems:

  • Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)

  • Platforms-as-a-Service (PaaS)

  • Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)

1. Public Cloud

This type of system is public, which means it is open to all. Many people can use this network to store or access the data. These systems are controlled and managed by a Cloud Service Provider (CSP). For example, Amazon elastic compute cloud (EC2) is a public cloud computing platform.

2. Private Cloud

This category can also be named an internal cloud or a corporate cloud. This allows organisations to manage and store all the information privately without any usage from third parties. People who have been given access can use this by open source tools like OpenStack and Eucalyptus. An example of this category of computing is the National Institute of Standards and Technology utilising this network.

3. Hybrid Cloud

This cloud is a mixture of both of these networks. This system can also not be completely secure because both parties can access any data or information that is stored. Examples of these services include all Google applications such as Suite, Gmail, Drive and other apps. Hybridisation is a huge network that does not rely on the public cloud.

Hybrid Cloud = Public Cloud + Private Cloud

Cloud computing is based on the demand and availability of resources. As this is an online service, users can edit, modify, watch programs, listen to any music, or do different types of activities. This service is becoming more popular day by day due to its outstanding ability to keep the data secure.

Conclusion

In this article, we learned about several advantages of computing platforms and the many types of cloud computing. Cloud computing is generally defined as hosted services used over the web. This cloud can be used publicly or privately as per the convenience of the user. This service has gained recognition because it makes work easier and hassle-free. Users can work without worrying about data loss.
