Rajasthan has a long history of excellent leaders. India is what it is now because of the contributions of many leaders throughout history. These leaders made significant contributions to various areas of life vital to society.
Rajasthan is unquestionably one of India’s most beautiful states. Rajasthan has a long history that includes Rajputs, Mughals, Marathas, and British rulers.
The following is a list of important personalities and their contribution to Rajasthan’s history. The list includes people from various areas and vocations who have made their community proud in the country and internationally.
Brahmagupta
Brahmagupta was an Indian mathematician born in Bhinmal, Rajasthan, India, around 598 AD. He was an ancient Indian astronomer and mathematician who was the first to establish principles for computing with zero. He is primarily known for writing the theoretical treatise ‘Brhmasphuasiddhnta.’
Brahmagupta Biography

Brahmagupta, the son of Jishnugupta, grew up in Gurjaradesha (an ancient territory in eastern Rajasthan and northern Gujarat). He was a mathematician. Brahmagupta’s comprehension of number systems was significantly superior to his contemporaries.
One of his most well-known writings is the Brahmasphutasiddhanta, which means ‘Corrected Treatise of Brahma.’ It includes a lot of criticism of his opponent’s mathematicians’ work. He put many mathematical insights as poems in this book. It featured many arithmetic rules that are now part of mathematical solutions.
In addition to the Brahmasphutasiddhanta, Brahmagupta wrote the Khandakhadyaka in 665 CE, a book on mathematics and astronomy. He was 67 years old at the time.
Brahmagupta claimed that the Earth and the universe are not flat but spherical. He was the first to utilise mathematics to forecast planet locations and eclipse timings. He was the first to figure out how to solve quadratic problems with a formula.
Prithvi Raj Chauhan
In 1179 CE, at the age of 11, Prithvi Raj Chauhan ascended the throne of Delhi. He became the final emperor of the Chauhan dynasty and the Hindu religion in Delhi. He governed from both Delhi and Ajmer, which were his dual capitals. He was in charge of uniting the Rajput soldiers to oppose and battle Muslim invasions.
After Prithviraj Chauhan’s death, scholars often depicted him as a great Hindu ruler who successfully kept Muslim invaders at bay for many years. He is also frequently shown as a symbol of Indian might before the establishment of Islamic control in mediaeval India.
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, an influential figure in Indian politics, was bestowed with many titles. Shekhawat was born in the hamlet of Khachariawas in the princely state of Jaipur on October 23, 1923.
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was the Chief Minister of Rajasthan three times: From 1977 to 1980, 1990 to 1992, and 1993 to 1998. After losing the Presidential election to Pratibha Patil, he resigned. Shekhawat formerly served as a member of parliament and the head of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Shekhawat created the “Any Day Yojana” program to help the poorest of the impoverished. He also had command of the administration and the police force. He is a well-known name among experienced leaders who have dedicated their lives to helping others.
Because of his outstanding achievements and abilities, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was awarded a D.Litt. Honorary degree from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam; Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidya Peeth, Varanasi; and Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur.
When he was Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was instrumental in the state’s growth.
Muhnot Nainsi
Muhnot Nainsi (1610–1670) is well renowned for studying the region that is now India’s Rajasthan state. Marwar Ra Pargana Ri Vigat and Naini Ri Khyat are two of his works.
During Jaswant Singh’s rule, he was the Dewan of Marwar. He was the son of Jaimal Muhnot, an important official in the Raja Sur Singh and Maharaja Gaj Singh reigns.
Khyat, which he wrote, is known as the Kyat of Nainsi or Nainsi Ri Khyat.
Ghanshyam Das Birla
- D. Birla is a founding member of the renowned Birla group of companies. He was born in the town of Pilani in the state of Rajasthan, where he later worked on social development.
He established the famed Birla Institute of Engineering and Technology in Pilani, among other educational institutions. BITS Pilani, one of India’s top technical institutes. Its campus comprises a research institute in electronics engineering (CEERI), a well-known public school run by the Birla family, and other polytechnic institutions.
In 1957, the Indian government awarded him the Padma Vibhushan.
