Dada Saheb Phalke Award:

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is a Lifetime achievement cinematic honour. The Directorate of Film Festivals, an institution formed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, introduces Dadasaheb Phalke Awards annually at the National Film Awards ceremony. 

The award receiver is chosen by a committee of prominent dignitaries from the Indian film industry for their exceptional contributions to the development and advancement of Indian cinema. The prize includes a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medal, a shawl, and a cash prize of one million rupees. 

The award was first presented in 1969 by the Government of India to honour Dadasaheb Phalke’s commitment to Indian cinema. Dadasaheb Phalke was popularly recognized as the father of Indian cinema. He was the first Indian filmmaker to direct a first full-length feature film – Raja Harishchandra (1913).  

National awards 2021: 

The 67th National Film Awards were held on March 22, 2021, at a press conference, honouring India’s Finest films accredited in India. This was for a period respectively between January 1 to December 31, 2019. The award show, which commemorates the best in Indian cinema with the Directorate of Film Festivals’ annual National Film Awards, was previously planned for 3 May 2020 but was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was subsequently unveiled on October 25, 2021. 

The Directorate of Film Festivals invites application entries virtually, with the closing date for entries set for February 17, 2020. The film award categories were open to feature and non-feature films credentialed by the Central Board of Film Certification in the year 2019 between January 1 to December 31. Books, research articles, evaluations, or articles on cinema publication in Indian newspapers, magazines, and journals between January 1 and December 31, 2019, were qualified for the best work on cinema classification. Dubbed, modified, or reproduced versions of a film or transcription, abridged versions, modified or footnoted works, and print editions were not eligible for the awards.

Padma Awards:

Among India’s prestigious awards, Padma Awards stands tall. It is presented yearly on Republic Day. There are three groupings of awards. Padma Vibhushan groupings of awards are awarded for recognizing outstanding and differentiated efforts. Padma Bhushan groupings of awards are awarded for the renowned service of developed intelligence. Padma Shri groupings of awards are awarded for distinguished services. The award aims to recognize accomplishments in all disciplines of actions or specialisms that encompass a component of public service.

These Awards are given in accordance with the recommendations given by the Committee of Padma Awards, which is ordained by the Prime Minister every year. The public is welcome to contribute to the nomination procedure. It is also feasible to designate oneself as a nominee.
