EXTRACTION OF IRON: APPLICATION OF METALLURGY

Iron is considered to be the fourth element that is abundant, and its mass can be seen as the crust of Earth. The Earth’s core in this field can be mentioned as that it is filled with iron and contains sulfur and nickel. Iron is a chemical element and it is also a metal that belongs to Group 8 of the periodic table. It can be called a cheap material. Iron is described as an element and it is because iron is a pure substance. In this field iron is a pure substance and here the atoms cannot be divided.      

What is the method of iron extraction?

Three main methods can be seen for the extraction of metal and it is from the metal ore. Three main methods of it are- electrolysis for molten reduction, reduction of the ore with the help of carbon, and reduction of the ore with a reactive metal. The process of extracting metal from their ore is called metallurgy, and it is a very significant process in this field. The extraction of iron happens from the hematite and it is the blast furnace.

Metallurgy of iron is called the process of extraction of iron from its ores, and also the preparation of crude iron for its conversion to steel.
