COMPARE LPG AND WOOD AS FUELS

Wood has been traditional fuel and the LPG has started to be used as a fuel for decreasing the carbon emission in the environment.

Introduction

In the world, wood and coal as fossil fuel has been considered the traditional fuel. On the other hand, it has been seen that fossil fuels have started increasing the amount of carbon footprint they leave in the environment which have introduced different pollutants into the air. Based on this, the current study has aimed to represent an argument by comparing two different types of fuels such as wood and LPG.

Explanation of different fuels

Fuels have been referred to as such materials which have been recognised as the main reactors with other materials in order to release the energy as thermal or to be used for work. Based on this particular definition, it has been seen that, worldwide, the existing fuels have been classified into three kinds of classes. Based on the nature of molecules of the fuel, the available fuels worldwide can be classified in 3 different sections. The main three kinds of fossil fuels are solid fuels, liquid fuels and gaseous fuels. Based on the materialistic structures of the molecules of the specific fuels, every individual has been able to create different types of toxic elements and introduce them to nature, which harms the environment.

Examples of fossil fuels

As per the generic terminology, fossil fuels have been demonstrated as the types of fuels that have been considered one of the main sources that are non-renewable. Fuels like those that LPG has been produced during the refining process of the raw petroleum oil which can be recognised as non-renewable sources of energy. On the other hand, wood has been considered one of the traditional fuels. This particular fuel can be recognised as one of the sources of those kinds of fuels that are not renewable. The main reason for stating such kind of information is that, if the woodlands are gone, humans are unable to create such vast areas of wood. This particular scenario made wood a non-renewable source of energy even after being turned into coal.

Use of LPG and wood as fuels

  • In general, it has been encountered that LPG has been used as an alternative to heating oil, for the purpose of cooking, automobiles and refrigeration.

  • This transmitted material, which is gaseous in nature, has been delivered to the household in order to make it the most usable fuel for cooking.

  • Mostly LPG has been used in the central heating system.

  • The most common usage of LPG is as a refrigerant as it serves as a great hydrocarbon.

Coal as a fossil fuel

As per the primary information, the most commonly used fossil fuel is coal. This has been considered one of the most crucial non-renewable sources of energy which has been primarily used for cooking and another kind of energy releasing purposes. The amount of heat that coal has been able to produce by combustion, the coal is primarily used in order to convert water into high-pressure steam. Coal has offered great affordability which has played as one of the main reasons for being the primary choice as a fossil fuel.

Comparison between wood and LPG as a fuel

The main comparison of LPG and wood lies in the materialistic structure of these two fuels. The LPG is a gaseous fuel whereas woods have been seen as a solid type of fuel. LPG has a higher calorific value which is 55000 KJ/kg. On the contrary, wood has a lower value of 170003 KJ/kg. LPG has the ability to reduce the carbon footprint as it creates less pollution in comparison to burning wood. On the other hand, the storage can be a great measure of the comparison. LPG can be stored easily whereas woods require a lot of space for storage.

Impact on the environment of the inflammation of LPG and wood

As per the record, it can be proposed that the usage of LPG as a common fuel can be able to reduce the pollution that has been introduced into the environment after the burning of different kinds of fuels. It can be stated that as the refining process of the natural gas or petroleum has restored the LPG, the boiling point of this particular gas has become lower. Therefore, the pollution it creates is lesser than the rate of pollution wood can create.

Conclusion

In order to sum up all that has been stated so far in this study, it can be stated that the discussion of this study has been conducted by focussing on the exemplification of different kinds of fuels. Fossil fuel and coals have been the major focus of the discussion section of this study. The study has further discussed the comparison that lies between two fuels, which are wood and LPG. In addition, this study has included the discussion regarding the examples of fossil fuels by focusing on the usage of coal as a fossil fuel.
