Adverse Effects of Environmental Pollution and Control Strategies

For centuries, dating from the early centuries, environmental pollution has been in existence. However, the industrial revolution made environmental pollution more significant from the 19th century till date. The adverse effects of environmental pollution have caused degradation of natural resources as well as human health.

Pollution can be defined as a state whereby there is environmental chaos in natural resources that prevents them from thriving. When nature can not decompose an unnatural element, pollution takes place.

Environmental pollution can damage the very natural resources we depend on. And by we, it has to do with plants, animals, and humans as well. The air we breathe becomes contaminated, the water we drink becomes unsafe and the soil for the plants becomes hazardous and detrimental to their growth.

Environmental pollution

Environmental pollution has become a severe menace to the earth and its inhabitants. It is no doubt that Industrialization, economic development, and urbanization have played a major role in causing the growth and development of the world at large, it has also caused an increase in waste discharge, oil spillage, energy consumption e.t.c.

Environmental pollution has not only caused a degradation of the environment, but it has also caused a lot of health effects. As a result of environmental pollution, we have recorded respiratory disorders, allergy, cardiovascular disorder, infant mortality; e.t.c.

The three different environmental pollutions are; water pollution, air pollution, and soil pollution. All the harm that is done to the environment falls in the category of these three pollutions.

Meta description:

From this pdf file, one phenomenal menace in all of the pollution for them is air pollution. The rising impact it has on the change in climate and health of the people is alarming. The death rate from records has increased and even morbidity rate, some of which are traced to air pollution.

Introduction:

The health of individuals is affected adversely by some pollutants that cause diseases. Some of these pollutants are:

  • Particulate matter
  • Particles of variables

These particles are injected into the body through inhalation. The respiratory system particularly is affected and these particles can cause cardiovascular and respiratory diseases or even cancer.

In the adverse effects of environmental pollution and control strategies, these things stated below are causes of the health implication caused by environmental pollution:

  • Pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, volatile organic compounds, dioxins, e.t.c. are harmful to health.
  • Poisoning in the respiratory system from carbon monoxide when inhaled at a very increased level.
  • Following exposure to heavy metals like lead, an individual can get chronic intoxication or get poisoned.
  • Environmental pollution also causes climate change and it affects the natural geographical distribution of a place.

The only way to curb this environmental and human health hazard is by making the public aware of the harm caused by environmental pollution. Scientific experts should also take precautionary measures as well as the government’s help to manage this.

Adverse effects of environmental pollution and control strategies

What are the negative effects of environmental pollution on human health?

Answer: Mercury is one of them. Through water pollution, mercury pollutes the seas and gets into seafood, making it very harmful and toxic when consumed.

Another one is the lead found in old water pipes and old paints. The record has it that this lead can slow down the mental development of a child

Over the last hundred years, the human population has increased rapidly. With this increase in population, there has also been an increase in the demand for social amenities like; water, food, electricity, e.t.c. These demands have requested a lot from our natural resources and on the other hand, they are contributing to the environmental pollution. This particular one has to do with the water, air, and soil pollution.

These agents that cause this pollution are known as pollutants. They cause a change in the chemical, physical and biological makeup of water, air, and soil.

For a control to be initiated, the Indian government passed the Environment(Protection) Act, 1986 to protect the environment from pollution.

Conclusion

With all that has been mentioned from different sources, environmental pollution is not a child’s play when it comes to the wellbeing of our natural resources as well the wellbeing of individuals. If control and precautionary measures are enforced by the government and the public is taught to adhere to these rules, the work would be safer to live in.
