The Downfall of Ibrahim Lodhi

In that similar period of time, a descendent of Amir Timur and Chengiz Khan, Babur has started to lose his grip on his ancestral land which is central Asia and started planning to develop a plan of conquering Kabul. Therefore, Babur has been able to establish himself as the sole ruler of Afghanistan. In the meantime, these two self-seeking nobles who came from Afghanistan in an attempt to save their skin have been involved in a battle. In this battle, the unfortunate emperor of the unexpected and wrong war planning, Ibrahim Lodi failed to save his throne and was killed by the Mughal invader Babur in the first battle of Panipat in 1526. 

Causes of the Downfall of Ibrahim Lodhi

The main cause of losing the battle was the overestimation of the strength of Ibrahim Lodi. As an over-headed person, this emperor was unable to estimate the power of Babur as a sultan of Afghanistan and built the ground of the invasion of Babur towards the throne of Delhi by killing Ibrahim in the battle of Panipat. Ibrahim Lodi failed to maintain an effective administrative system, and it resulted in the blockage of trade routes that led to the degeneration of different trade routes. It was later on identified that internal wars started weakening the empire of the Lodi dynasty, and Zahir-ud-din Mohammad Babur mostly influenced it. 

Discussion on the Tomb of Ibrahim Lodhi

Ibrahim Lodi’s tomb was built in Panipat, by using Lakhauri bricks. This tomb symbolizes the resting place of Ibrahim Khan Lodi. The rectangular grave is developed over a higher platform, and it is situated near the Tehsil office. The tomb has higher historical significance and it is reflected in the history of Panipat.
