Why is the Sky Blue in Colour

Answer: The sky is blue in colour due to the Raleigh scattering phenomenon. Electromagnetic radiation is scattered by particles having a smaller wavelength.

The particles of the atmosphere scatter the sunlight and the light that comes down to the earth is known as diffuse sky radiation. The short wavelengths of light that reflect back to the earth are of the blue hues hence the colour of the sky appears to be blue.

The wavelength of blue light is shorter than any other light present in the atmosphere. Therefore the blue colour is scattered more with the particles present in the atmosphere.
