Why is Ammeter Connected in Series

Answer : The ammeter is connected in series with the load to measure the current. It is a device that measures electric current in amperes. The ammeter has a needle that moves over a graduated scale, indicating the magnitude of the current. The greater the current magnitude, the higher on the scale it moves.

An ammeter can measure current values of a wide range as only a small amount of current is directed at high values through the meter mechanism. The major portion is carried by a shunt that is parallel with the meter.
