What is the Unit of Compressibility ?

The SI unit of compressibility is m2/1.

Answer:

  • Compressibility is the property of an object being decreased to a smaller space by pressure.
  • Being a reciprocal of bulk modulus of elasticity (k). The unit of  compressibility is m2/1.
  • And the formula for calculating compressibility is M-1L1T2.

In simple words, compressibility is the measure of decreased volume of an object when the same is placed under pressure. Compressibility cannot be measured if the object is solid or liquid as the pressure does not change its volume, however, the same can be changed if it’s a gas.
