What is the Relation Between Resistance and Resistivity?

Answer: Resistance is characteristic of a substance that prevents the flow of electrons. Resistivity is a term used to describe a material’s ability to resist the flow of an electric current.

The following equation describes the link between resistance and resistivity:

R =  ρ  l/a

R stands for resistivity, l for conductor length, and a for the cross-sectional area.
