What is the Relation Between Amplitude and Intensity?

Answer: The higher the amplitude of a wave, the more energy it contains. If the wave’s amplitude is high, it may carry more power; if it’s low, it can take less. Intensity and amplitude are connected, but they are not the same thing. For example, the intensity of a sound wave can be described as the total amount of energy that travels over a given area at a certain speed over a given period. A sound wave’s pressure and particle velocity contribute to its overall power. The louder a sound is thought to be, the more intense it is believed to be. Decibels are commonly used as a measure of sound intensity.
