What are work function and threshold frequency?

Work function and threshold frequency are the concepts of classical physics and quantum physics.

Answer: The work function is defined as the minimum energy to eject an electron from a metal, work function is also explained. Whereas, when a photon has energy somehow equal to the work function, then the frequency of such photon is known as the threshold frequency. 

In the work function; W = hvo, vo is the threshold frequency.
