What is The LCM For 18 and 24?

Answer: There are two ways to find LCM or Lowest Common Multiple:- 

  1. The LCM method of Greatest Common Factor.
  2. Multiplying the Prime factor with the highest Exponent Factor.

Following are the steps to find LCM for 18 and 24:-

1. The prime factorisation of 18 :-

2 x 3 x 3

2. The prime factorisation of 24 :-

2 x 2 x 2 x 3 

3. Taking out the factor from 1) & 2) that appears the greater number of times and multiplying them.

  1. L.C.M. = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 = 72
  2. The L.C.M. of 18 and 24 is 72.
