Two Numbers are in the Ratio 5:6. If 8 is Subtracted from Each of the Numbers, the Ratio Becomes 4:5, Find the Numbers

Answer:

The given ratio in the question is

5:6

Which can be rewritten as,

5 /6

Consider a number x. So, as per the question our first number will be  5x and 6x.

Now using it in the form of equation,

5x /6x

As per the question, we can write the above equation in the form of

(5x-8 /6x-8) = 4/5

Solving the equation stated above,

25x – 40 = 24x – 32

x = 8

Since we got the value of x, we also know that the first number is 5x and the second is 6x. Therefore, their actual values are, 40 and 48 respectively.
