Question & Answer » Mathematics Questions » The Relation Between Mean, Median and Mode is (a) Mode = 3Median – 2Mean (b) Mode = 2Median – 3Mean (c) Mode = 3Mean – 2Median (d) Mode = 2Mean – 3Median

The Relation Between Mean, Median and Mode is (a) Mode = 3Median – 2Mean (b) Mode = 2Median – 3Mean (c) Mode = 3Mean – 2Median (d) Mode = 2Mean – 3Median

Answer: Mode = 3(Median) – 2(Mean)

  • Mean: The mean is the average value of a set of values. It could be found out in numerous ways in statistics.

  • Median: Median is the value which separates the upper half and lower half of the given data.

  • Mode: Mode is the most occurring value in the set of values.

The relation between the three Mean, Median and Mode are:

Mode = 3(Median) – 2(Mean)

This relation is known as empirical relation. This formula could be used when we know any two of the above and need to find the third one of the given data/set of values.
