Answer: A point outside a circle can be used to start several lines. Secants are lines that cross a circle at two places or a maximum of two points. Other lines may not cross the circle at all.
However, a pair of two lines can traverse a circle by just touching it once, and only once. These are tangent lines, or just tangents to the circle, from a certain point. It should be emphasized that only two tangents can be created from a specific point outside a circle.
A circle can have infinite tangents.
