How do I find ⅔ of a whole number?
This question is one of the most basic questions, but it’s one that many people struggle to find a solution for. There are a large number of different ways to find ⅔ of a whole, but the best two ways are:
- To find ⅔ of a whole number, first multiply the whole number with the numerator (top number), which is 2.
Then divide the resulting number by the denominator (bottom number), which is 3.
E.g., If the whole number is 20, then 20 * 2 = 40
40 ÷ 3 = 13.333, which will be your answer.
This method of multiplication of the whole number with the numerator and then divided by the denominator can be used for calculating a different number of fraction values of the whole number.
- The second method consists of two steps.
In the first step, we can convert the fraction value into a decimal value.
For this, we can divide the numerator (2) by the denominator (3).
In the second step, we can multiply the whole number with the decimal value.
E.g. for the whole number 20,
2 ÷ 3 = 0.6666666667
20 * 0.6666666667 = 13.3333
The decimal value 0.6666666667 can be multiplied by any whole number to calculate the ⅔ of that number.
