Find six rational numbers between 3 and 4

Answer:

Rational Numbers

The number that can be written in the form of a fraction of two integers is referred to as Rational Numbers. It is a number that is expressed as one integer divided by another integer.

Some of the examples are- 3/4, 5/7, 8/9,

Properties of rational numbers-

These rational numbers are sets of real numbers. They all have properties similar to real numbers. Some specific properties of rational numbers that make them unique and different from irrational numbers are

Closure- The property of closure distinguishes the rational numbers from the irrational counterpart. The closure property states that the rational numbers are closed under mathematical operations such as, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This means when performing the mathematical operations mentioned above using two rational numbers will always give another rational number

2 + 2 = 4

2 – 2 = 0

2 × 2 = 4

2 ÷ 2 = 1

All these are rational numbers giving another rational number as result unlike irrational.

So, here finding out 6 rational numbers between 3 and 4

Rational numbers between 3 and 4 are infinite so we need to find only 6

Solution- Let us multiply and divide both 3 and 4 by 7 (6+1)

  1. 3 x 7/7= 21/7 for 3
  2. 4 x 7/7= 28/7 for 4

Hence, we can say that numbers between 21/7 and 28/7 are rational numbers between 3 and 4

So,

22/7, 23/7, 24/7, 25/7, 26/7 and 27/7 are the six rational numbers between 3 and 4
