Every rational number is a whole number? True or False

Every rational number is a whole number? True or False. Give the reason for your answer

Whole Numbers

These numbers are positive numbers along with zero. It ranges from 0 to infinity. Whole numbers cannot be negative. They do not include fractions as well as decimals. The whole numbers are denoted by ‘W’

Example- 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ………

Rational Numbers-The rational numbers are always expressed in the form of ratio of the two integers. It can also be expressed in the terms of fractions and decimals. The rational number is denoted by ‘Q’.

Example- 3/1, 4/1, and 5/1 as they can be expressed in fraction form

The answer is False.

As we know all whole numbers are rational numbers but all rational numbers may or may not be whole.

Explanation-

Every rational number is not a whole number

For instance, let us take an example-

Rational numbers like 2/1, 1/4, 1/2

On simplifying, 2/2 we get,

2/2=1 which is a whole number

But, on simplifying 1/4 we get,

1/4= 0.25 which is not a whole number
