An athlete completes one round of a circular track diameter of 200m in the 40s. What will be the distance covered and the displacement at the end of 2min 20s

It must be remembered that distance and displacement are considered the same terms, although they have varied meanings. Length will determine the area covered by the object during motion. Although the removal will measure the placement of things from a specified length. For this case,

  • Track calculations are 200m, and the radius will be 200/ 2. As radius= 100m
  • Athlete took 40 seconds to complete one full round.
  • Hence, to find the displacement, we take the formula of Speed= distance/ time.
  • 2min 20 seconds= 2x 60+20= 140 seconds.
  • For finding out the distance
  • 40/140 = 3.5
  • 3.5 x 2 pie = 3.5 x 2 x 3.14x 100 = 22 km

Distance is multiplied by circumference. Hence, the displacement will be 140 seconds as the athlete has completed only 3 seconds, while the distance covered will be 22 km.
