Abscissa of a Point is Positive in Which Quadrant

Answer: Abscissa means the x coordinate of a given point on a cartesian plane.

The signs of the coordinates are indicated in the format of (sign of x coordinate, sign of y coordinate). Following are the signs of the coordinates in:-

  • The signs of the coordinates in the first quadrant are (+, +).

  • The signs of the coordinates in the second quadrant are (−, +).

  • The signs of the coordinates in the third quadrant are (−, −).

  • The signs of the coordinates in the fourth quadrant are (+, −).

Thus, the abscissa of a point is positive in quadrant I as well as in quadrant IV.
