Answer: On May 1, 1848, a significant number of political organisations convened in Frankfurt and declared their support for the idea of electing a parliament that included all of Germany. This parliament was composed of German businesspeople, professionals, and craftsmen of the middle class who hailed from various regions around the country. The Frankfurt Constitution established that representative democracy would serve as the institutional framework for the German empire.
On the other hand, Frankfurt Parliament was met with resistance from both the artisans and the workers. In addition, the fact that it was led by people from the middle classes caused it to lose the support of the masses. On May 31, 1849, it was finally put to an end when it was ordered to dissolve.
