Why is the Internet Called a Network of Networks

Here we will learn about the concept of Internet and its importance as the Network of Networks.

Answer: The Internet can be described as “the network of networks” in its most basic form. It is the joining of computer networks from all over the world into a single entity. It is not a single large computer, but rather a collection of networked computers linked together.

When you make a call to your Internet provider from home (AOL, Earthlink, etc.), you are primarily going to connect your computer to the network. If you are on campus, you connect to the Network via your institution’s network, which is linked to the bigger Internet network via Peachnet, the internet-connected highway for all academic institutions as well as libraries in Georgia. The “spine” of this interconnection is what is recognized as the “information superhighway.”
