Saare Jahan Se Achha is a very popular Indian patriotic song. Every Indian is known to remember the song by heart. It has special emotions connected to the song’s lyrics and music. This beautiful song was written by Muhammad Iqbal in the Urdu Language. On 16th August 1904, the song was first published in the weekly journal titled ‘Ittehad’ . In 1924, it was further released in the Urdu book named Bang-i-Dara.
The song has a history of being formally known as Taranah-e-Hindi which means ‘Anthem of the People of Hindustan’. It was originally written for children in the ghazal style of Urdu Poetry and was publicly recited for the first time at a Government College, in Lahore, British India (now in Pakistan). The anthem was in opposition to the British government and added wings to the fight for freedom.
