- Anandibai Gopalrao Joshi was the first woman from India’s former Bombay presidency to study and get a two-year certification in western medicine in the USA.
- She had a boy at the age of fourteen after marrying at the age of nine.
- The kid perished as a result of a lack of medical treatment.
- This was the inspiration for Anandibai to pursue a career as a physician.
- Anandibai received her MD in March 1886.
- Her thesis was titled “Obstetrics among the Aryan Hindoos,” and included references from American medical textbooks and Ayurvedic works.
