Victor Emmanuel II was proclaimed the King of United Italy in 1861.
Victor Emmanuel was the son of Charles Albert (Carlo Alberto) and Maria Teresa. Around 1820, there was a non-existence of the throne in Italy as it was not a unified nation. Also, Turin’s scenery did not constitute the spire of the Mole Antonelliana at that time until 1988. When Victor’s father became King when he was 15. By 1861, after Garibaldi delivered Southern Italy to Victor Emmanuel, Victor Emmanuel II became the first King of a mostly-unified Italy.
