Answer: The first engineer in India was a man by the name of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Every year, on September 15, India honours engineers by commemorating this man’s birthday as Engineer’s Day.

In addition to receiving the Bharat Ratna Award, he was responsible for the establishment of schools and engineering institutions, the invention of block irrigation, and the construction of the KRS reservoir.

Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshwaraiah was an Indian civil engineer, statesman, and the 19th Diwan of Mysore. He held this position from 1912 until 1919. He is commonly referred to by his initials, MV.
