Father of Geography

The father of Geography is Eratosthenes of Cyrene (276 BCE–194 BCE), the ancient Greek scholar. He had a small-scale notion of the planet that helped him to evaluate the circumference of the earth and he was the one to use the word geography. 

About Eratosthenes

  • Eratosthenes was multi-talented as he proved his talents in being a Greek mathematician, poet, astronomer, music theorist and geographer.
