Answer: It was hosted by Duke Metternich. He was at the heart of European events for three decades as foreign minister of the Austrian Empire from 1809 to 1821 and chancellor from 1821 to 1848, when the liberal Revolutions of 1848 compelled him to retire.
When his efforts in international diplomacy prevented major conflicts in Europe, he was praised for his diplomatic abilities. Klemens von Metternich, an Austrian statesman, presided over the Congress of Vienna, which was held in Vienna between November 1814 and June 1815.
