Answer: An exam is a test of a student’s knowledge, proficiency, and ability on a particular subject. Academic institutions or government institutions conduct Exams as means of determining a candidate’s ability to:
- Qualify for a place in an educational or government institution
- In an academic institution, advance to the following grade/level
In the educational sector, exams are used to determine whether or not students’ learning and studying efforts were productive. The examination hall occupies a substantial portion of a student’s educational experience. Students write several types of exams depending on their location or country.
The exam was first discovered by an American philanthropist and businessman, Henry Fischel, in the 19th century. Henry Fischel was a world traveller who visited the United States and many other countries. His examinations were divided into two categories: inside and outside testing. He hypothesised that exams would determine how well students understood what they had been taught. Henry is one of the first people to develop an examination philosophy. We have learned history because of his philosophy.
In terms of examinations, the Indian education system is not very well regulated; the types and systems of examinations change according to the present needs of society. There are three types of examinations in general. The first is the general examination held by several boards around the country for secondary and higher secondary students. The second type of exam is the entrance exam, held to gain admission to a specific college or university. The third type of exam is for gaining a job in a certain sector of the country.
Popular exams in India are as follows:
- Bank Exams
- LIC Exams
- PSC Exams
- Competitive Exams
The primary goal of education is to educate pupils and help them appreciate the more important aspects of the knowledge they are receiving.
