Answer: The Deccan Plateau is India’s highest and most extensive plateau. The landmass known as the Deccan Plateau can be found to the south of the river Narmada.

It is in the shape of a triangle. Its broad base is bordered to the north by the Satpura range, and its eastern extensions are formed by the Mahadev hills, the Kaimur hills, and the Maikal range.

The western side of the Deccan Plateau is higher than the eastern side, and the slope is mild.

An extension of the Plateau can also be seen in the northeast, where it is referred to by various local names, including the Meghalaya Plateau, the Karbi-Anglong Plateau, and the North Cachar Hills.

It is not connected to the Chotanagpur Plateau in any way due to a fault.
