The first-ever cotton mill in India was established in Calcutta in 1818 at Fort Gloster which was situated near Calcutta. The first cotton mill was established in Calcutta in the year 1828, however, it was considered a total failure. After that in 1854, the Bombay cotton mill was established in India by KGN Daber and it turned out to be an extremely important port from where raw cotton would be exported to China and England from India. It became very famous and as a result numerous farmers began their investments here, which resulted in the complete turning of the market. A huge number of workers started working in cotton mills. In Bombay, about 84 mills were established in 1900 by Parsi and Gujarati businessmen.
