What was the objective of the Simon Commission? Why was it opposed in India?

Answer: The commission arrived in India to study constitutional reform in British India. The commission was led by Sir John Simon. The commission consisted of 7 members. It arrived in India in 1928.

It was opposed because:

  • Indians weren’t a part of the commission.
  • The Muslim League led by Jinnah boycotted it.
