Answer: In India, it has long been customary for bankers only to pay out checks and drafts delivered for payment within six months after the instrument’s date. However, following RBI recommendations, the validity period of cheques, bank drafts, pay orders, and banker’s checks have been shortened from six months to three months as of the instrument’s issuing date as of April 1, 2012.
