Answer: Glory lily, also known as the flame lily is the State flower of Tamil Nadu. The scientific term used for the flower is Gloriosa superba. The flower has many distinct features and it looks a bit different from other flowers.

Reasons behind Flame Lily being the State Flower of Tamil Nadu: 

  1. The plant is exported to western countries due to its medicinal use. The seeds of the plant contain therapeutic properties. 

  2. The chemical known as Colchicine that is extracted from the seeds of the flower is used in treating joint pains and rheumatism.
