What is the need and importance of the Constitution?

Answer: Most nations in the world today have constitutions. All democratic countries are likely to have shapes, but not all nations with constitutions are necessarily democratic.

The following are some of the possible motivations for drafting a constitution:

  • To offer a set of fundamental guidelines that permit the minimum social organization
  • To set limits on a government’s demands on its citizens. The fact that the government is never permitted to exceed these limitations makes them fundamental
  • It needs to give the government the tools to fulfil social expectations and foster a just society.

Consequently, the constitution permits coordination and assurance.
