Answer: The highest-ranking member of the Indian federal judiciary is the Chief Justice of India, officially known as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India. They are also the chief judge of the Supreme Court of India.
According to the Indian Constitution, the president of India has the authority to choose the next chief justice, who will hold office until they turn 65 or is removed by impeachment, after consulting with the outgoing chief justice.
According to tradition, the chief justice who is currently serving will nearly always offer the following senior Supreme Court justice selection.
The chief justice, who serves as the chief justice of the Supreme Court, is in charge of assigning cases to constitutional benches that deal with significant legal issues. The chief justice gives all work to the other judges who are required to refer the matter back to them.
