Answer: Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act
On August 25, 2005, a law known as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) was passed in India. The program’s goal is to increase the livelihood security of those living in rural areas by providing a rural household with 100 days of wage employment per fiscal year if its adult members volunteer to perform unskilled manual labour.
