What is Panchayat Samiti?

Answer: An elected statutory body at the intermediate level, the Panchayat Samiti, is given the necessary power, resources, and a wide range of responsibilities. It should be unhindered by and uncontrolled by the government. The state government will be required to provide direction.

The Panchayat Samiti’s region must be just the right size—not too big and difficult to administer, and not too tiny that the ideals of efficiency and economy are ignored.

In its operations, it should be both economically feasible and accessible to the average person. The committee, among other things, suggested that a Panchayat Samiti be established in the currently existing block.
