Question: What is meant by the Linguistic States?
Answer: Linguistic states are referred to as the states that have been divided on the basis of their native languages. Some important points related to these states are:
- In 1956, A State reorganization Act was established to redesign the boundaries of India’s states and regions, based on their language/linguistic lines.
- The interest in states to be coordinated on linguistics existed even before India achieved independence. A first-of-its-sort etymological development began in 1895, in what is currently Odisha. The Oriya speaking people made Odisha and separated from Bihar.
- Similarly, the Tamil speaking population from Madras and Telugu speaking population separated from them and made Andhra Pradesh.
