Answer: Buffer stock refers to the stock of goods used to adjust price volatility and unexpected emergencies. The buffer stock is usually stocked with essentials and necessities such as food grains, pulses etc.

It is the stock of grain, rice and wheat, bought by the Government through the Indian Food Corporation purchased food grains are stored in warehouses.
