Question: What helped TISCO expand Steel Production during the First World War?
Answer: The year 1914 marked the beginning of the First World War. The global war used up all of Britain’s available steel production capacity. Because of this, the amount of steel manufactured in Britain that was imported into India decreased significantly, which forced Indian railroads to get their steel from TISCO.
Over the course of time, TISCO evolved into the most successful steel manufacturer in all of the British empire. Because the battle dragged on for so many years, TISCO was obligated to manufacture carriage wheels and shells. By the year 1990, the colonial administration had already acquired more than 90 percent of its steel from TISCO.
