Answer: Nelson Mandela was the leader of the African National Congress. It’s an organization built to protest the South African Government’s policy. Nelson Mandela was arrested in 1956 on treason charges against the then Government. Later he was acquitted of those charges. On 12 June 1964, Nelson Mandela was charged with a life sentence because he tried to sabotage South Africa’s then Government. He was about the accused of the death sentence but was saved. 

Life at the prison – 

After the following Rivonia Trial, he served 27 years in prison. The prison sentence was divided between Pollsmoor Prison, Robben Island, and Victor Verster Prison.
