What are Inundation Canals?

Here we will learn about Inundation Canals and their importance. Tap to know more about such interesting topics in detail.

Answer: Long canals originating from large rivers are known as inundation canals. When the river is high enough, and especially when it is in flood, they receive water. Perennial canals, which are connected to dams and barrages to provide water all year, irrigate a large area. Rivers are directly drained into inundation canals. Irrigation canals are the most common use for this type of canal. Only when the rivers are flooded does it receive water. As a result, they are unable to provide water throughout the year.
