Question: The governor of a state is appointed by _________

Answer: The country’s president generally appoints the governor. The governor is the state executive head, and the central government nominates the appointment of this chief. The candidate for the post of governor should have Indian citizenship and must be aged above 35 years.

The Indian constitution has no provision for any election for governors’ posts. Hence, the nomination is done by the central government. At the same time, the appointment will be completed by the president. The governor’s office is independent and will not be ruled by union executives. Hence, the governor has no reporting obligation to serve representatives of union governments.
