The Answer: On June 14th 1992, the first international earth summit was held. Representatives from 172 countries assembled in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It can also be referred to as the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). It included 108 heads of the state, 2,400 representatives of various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and 10,000 journalists from around the world.
