Answer: The Param supercomputer was the first of its kind to be created by Indian researchers. IIT was the site of the installation of the country’s first homegrown supercomputer, which was given the name Param Shivay (BHU).

- Behind Param stands Vijay Pandurang Bhatkar, a software developer from Mumbai
- In 1991, he created the PARAM 8000, which is considered to be the first ever supercomputer in India
- Later, in 1998, the PARAM 10000 was created. He constructed the National Param Supercomputing Facility (NPSF) on the basis of the PARAM series
- At the end of June 2021, the PARAM was the fastest machine in the series, with a Rpeak of 5.267 petaflops
